Directory: Every Place We Cover, and the Operators We Could Check
Two lists. Places are the 115 locations we have written a guide
for, the same ones plotted on the atlas, searchable here by sport. Operators are businesses
in those places that we could check against a register: 77 so far, in 6 locations,
each field carrying its evidence and the date we looked.
Building one of these is slow on purpose: it means opening a register, reading its rulebook,
and writing down what it does not say. The count is the honest state of it.
Operators the register places at Coron, Palawan. Coron's draw is wreck diving, and no register records which wrecks an operator is permitted or equipped to run.
Every dive or snorkel operator on Koh Tao carried in the Green Fins member register on 12 August 2026. Operators outside that register are not listed, which is a limit of the source and not a judgement about them.
Every dive and snorkel operator around Labuan Bajo and the Komodo National Park that appears in the Green Fins register. The park's operators run liveaboards as well as day boats, and the register does not distinguish the two.
Operators the register places at Marsa Alam, which it spells Marsa Allam. Egypt's Red Sea coast is one register area, so a few entries sit closer to Port Ghalib or the southern camps than to the town.
Operators around Semporna, Mabul, Mataking and Pom Pom in the Green Fins register. Sipadan itself is permit-controlled and the permit allocation is not something any register publishes, so ask the operator how many they hold.
Why the places list is so much longer than the operator list. A place
gets a guide when we have researched it. An operator list needs a register that publishes
something checkable, and outside diving most sports have none: the kite, surf and coasteering
bodies run member lookups you can read in a browser but nothing that can be verified in bulk.
Those locations will arrive with more fields marked as the operator's own claim, dated and
labelled as such, and we would rather say that than pretend the evidence is the same.
