Roatán Watersports Schools in the SSI Register

20 schools teaching scuba diving. Every one of them is here because the SSI register lists it, and each entry links to the record it was read from. Nobody assessed any of them, and being in a register is not an inspection. Nothing on this page was read on the schools' own sites, so it carries no quotes and no languages.

20 schools read on 2026-08-20 · 20 confirmed against the register · 0 languages named in total. Read this differently from our dive pages: those list every operator a register carries and show who was assessed in person. This one lists every school the SSI register carries here, all 20 of them, and nobody assessed any of them. Being in a register means the body says the business is listed. It is not an inspection.

Every watersports business in and around Roatán that SSI publishes in its own register of affiliated centres, read on 20 August 2026. 20 in total: 20 by SSI. Each entry links to the register page it was read from, so the affiliation can be checked at the source rather than taken from here. 20 publish a website in the register. Absence means nothing on this page, and that is the important sentence on it. These are membership registers, not licences: a school that is not in them may simply not have joined, or may teach under a body that publishes no list at all. IKO's own site claims more than 350 affiliated schools against the 295 its feed carries, which is the size of the gap. So this page is what these bodies list here and never the schools of Roatán. What a listing proves is narrow. It says the body registers this business, on the date given. It says nothing about the teaching, the equipment, the boats or whether the school is open this season, and none of these businesses was assessed by anybody for this page. Nothing here was read on the operators' own sites yet, so this page carries no training body beyond the register's own, no languages and no quotes.

How to read this list, and why it is weaker than our dive pages

On a dive page, Green Fins means a named third party visited the business and scored it. Nothing on this page is like that. Every value here is a claim the school publishes about itself, which we opened on the date shown and quoted rather than summarised.

What absence means here. On a dive page, absence means the operator is not in the register. Here it means we did not find the school, which is a statement about us and not about them.

An equipment brand is not a training body. Several schools show Duotone, Cabrinha, Naish or North prominently. Those are gear sponsorships and certify nothing, so they are not recorded as affiliations, and a school that names only a brand shows a blank here.

A named body is still only a claim. None of these schools publishes a membership number, so there is nothing to take to IKO or VDWS and check. If you care, ask the school for its number and ask the body to confirm it.

Why no register stands behind this page. We have tried eighteen governing bodies and state registers, from IKO and VDWS to PADI, SSI, and the tourism authorities of five countries. Four can be read in bulk and none of the four covers these places. The full account, body by body, with what each one actually returned, is on why no register stands behind these pages.

Corrections and removals

If you run one of these schools and a field is wrong, write to us with the page that shows it and we will correct it and date the correction. We do not charge for a listing, for its position, or for its removal, and if that ever changes it will be declared here and on the disclosure page before the first paid listing appears.

Sources

  1. Each school's own website, opened on 2026-08-20. Every quoted sentence was read on the page linked in that school's row, not in a search result and not on a booking portal.
  2. How this list was assembled. The ssi training centre register, 3,848 centres worldwide fetched in one request and filtered to this place. A record is kept when the register's own city field names this place or its coordinates fall within 30 km of it, because each half fails alone: coordinates tied an Indonesian business to an Egyptian registration 10,000 km away, and city strings alone would have dropped a centre whose register coordinates sit 780 km out to sea. Green Fins is not among the sources here: its member pages render nothing a reader or a checker could confirm, and a citation has to point at the fact it cites. No operator website has been read for this page.
  3. the language directory for schools in other places that state which languages they teach in.
