Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data NOMADREEF ("we", "us") collects when you visit nomadreef.com, why, and your rights. The data controller is Topblog LLC, 1309 Coffeen Avenue STE 1200, Sheridan, Wyoming 82801, United States of America, represented by Yannick Schroth, Managing Member. It is the company named as the publisher on the legal notice. You can reach us at info@topblog.agency, and a request about your data goes to the company rather than to any individual.

What we collect

• Analytics data, such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, collected via Google Analytics 4 (loaded only after you consent, and only when analytics is enabled) to understand what is useful. This is processed only with your consent where required.
• Newsletter data, the email address you give us if you subscribe, stored with our newsletter provider and used only to send the dispatch. You can unsubscribe any time.
• Contact data, anything you send us via the contact page or email.
• Affiliate/technical data, our partners may set their own cookies when you click an affiliate link; see the cookie policy.

Legal basis (GDPR)

We rely on your consent for analytics and marketing cookies and for the newsletter, and on our legitimate interest in running and securing the site for essential processing. You can withdraw consent at any time. We also rely on legitimate interest for the operator directory, which is a different purpose with a different balancing test, so it has its own section below rather than being folded into this sentence.

Operators we list, and how we contact them

Our operator directory is about businesses, not readers, but it needs its own paragraph here because business information sometimes identifies a person, and because we intend to write to the businesses we list.

What we hold. For each operator: its trading name, town and country, the address of its own website, and the claims it publishes about itself, quoted with the date we read them. Where an operator is run by one named person, or names its director or an instructor in a sentence we quote, that name is personal data and we treat it as such. Two listings do this today. One is a school naming its director on its own front page. The other is a quotation we publish as the evidence for a language claim, "Ahmed speaks Arabic, English and basic German", taken from the school's own team page: the sentence is the proof that the claim is the school's and not ours, and removing the name would leave a claim with no evidence behind it. If either business would rather we did not, write to us and it goes.

Contact addresses, held but never published. Several of the registers we read carry a business contact address, given to the register by each business: Green Fins for most of its members, VDWS for 420 of its 427 stations, SSI for every one of its centers, and the Portuguese state register for most of the businesses it licenses. We keep only addresses that match the business, never one that is plainly a private mailbox, and only for operators we actually list. We keep those in a private working file so that we can write to operators about their own entry. They are not shown on any page of this site, not sold, not shared and not added to the newsletter, and we delete an entry once it is answered or once an operator asks us not to write again. We do not collect contact addresses by crawling operator websites.

Where it comes from (GDPR Article 14, information not obtained from you). The operator's own public website, and public registers published by the body that keeps them. Those registers are, in full: Green Fins; the Chamber of Diving and Water Sports of Egypt; the Portuguese national register of tourism animation agents; and the affiliated-center directories of IKO, VDWS, SSI and International Training. We do not take operator information from aggregators, booking portals or reviews, and we do not use a register whose publisher asks us not to: PADI's directory is the largest one available to us and we leave it alone, because the terms it publishes exclude the pages that carry it.

Why we may do this. Our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) in publishing accurate, sourced information about businesses that sell lessons and dives to the public, so that a reader can tell a checked claim from an unchecked one. We weighed this against the interests of the people concerned: the information is professional rather than private, every item of it was already published by the business itself, we quote rather than characterise, and we date everything so nothing is presented as more current than it is. We publish no personal contact details, no photographs of individuals and nothing about anybody's private life.

Writing to operators. We plan to contact listed operators once, at the business address published on their own site, to ask them to confirm or correct their own entry, principally which languages their instructors teach in. That message will say where we got their details and how to be left alone, and one request is enough: if you ask us not to write again, we will not. We do not add these addresses to the newsletter, we do not send marketing to them, and we do not share or sell them. No such message has been sent yet.

Corrections, objection and removal. Write to info@topblog.agency and we will correct any field that is wrong, and date the correction. On removal we will be straight with you rather than promise what we do not intend to do: a personal name will be taken out on request, always, and so will anything that identifies an individual. A factual entry about a business, drawn from a public register or from that business's own website, we will not delete on request alone, because a directory that removes entries when asked is no longer a record of anything. If you object under Article 21, tell us your grounds and we will weigh them against the interest above and answer you. We have never charged for a listing, for its position or for its removal, and if that ever changes it will be said here and on our disclosure page first.

Sharing and processors

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the site (for example our hosting and CDN provider Vercel, Google Analytics for site analytics, and our newsletter provider), each acting as a processor under contract, and where legally required.

Retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose collected, then delete or anonymise it. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port or restrict processing of your data, to object, and to withdraw consent (GDPR). California residents have rights to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of "sale/sharing" (CCPA/CPRA); we do not sell personal information. To exercise any right, contact info@topblog.agency. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

International transfers & children

Your data may be processed outside your country by our providers, under appropriate safeguards. NOMADREEF is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
