It is voluntary, so a business outside it is outside a scheme rather than below a standard. 1 is published by SSI in its own register of affiliated centres, read on 21 September 2026. Each of those entries links to the register page it was read from, so the affiliation can be checked at the source rather than taken from here. 8 of the 8 publish a website. Absence still means nothing on this page. These are membership registers and a voluntary scheme, not licences: a business in none of them may simply not have joined, or may teach under a body that publishes no list at all. So this page is what these bodies list here and never the schools of El Nido. What a listing proves is narrow. It says the body registers this business, on the date given. It says nothing about the teaching, the equipment, the boats or whether the school is open this season, and nobody was assessed for the purpose of this page. Most of the Green Fins members here also sell island-hopping tours, which sit outside the Green Fins dive assessment entirely.

Green Fins means a named third party visited the business and scored it. 7 of the 8 here are Green Fins members, 7 of them assessed in person. Each of those records shows the membership level, the assessment and the register ID. Nothing else on this page is like that.

What absence means here. Every business here is in one of these registers, so absence means the register does not carry the business, which is a statement about a list.

An equipment brand is not a training body. Several schools show Duotone, Cabrinha, Naish or North prominently. Those are gear sponsorships and certify nothing, so they are not recorded as affiliations, and a school that names only a brand shows a blank here.

A register entry can be opened; a claim cannot. Every affiliation taken from a register links to that body's own page for that business, so the listing can be read at the source instead of taken from here. Where a school's own words are shown instead, they are a claim with nothing behind them but the school, and they are labelled that way.

Why these registers and not others. A register earns its place here by being enumerable and citable: it has to list who is in it, and each entry has to have a page that names the business, so a reader can check the claim instead of taking it from us. Most do neither. Green Fins is the case that shows the difference, because its members are the best evidence in this directory and its member pages render the same bytes for a real centre and an invented one, so a Green Fins fact is stored with a centre id and never cited as a link. Twenty-five were tried and nine answer: what each one returned, with the date it was asked.
