Tioman Diving: 4 Assessed Operators and a Fee You Can Actually Look Up

Tioman is a small list, 4 operators, and an unusually solid one: every one has been assessed in person within the last twelve months. It is also the only location in this directory where we could confirm the visitor fee at the authority that sets it, rather than repeating a figure from a travel page. Malaysia's Department of Fisheries publishes the marine park conservation charge itself, with the legal instrument behind it.

How this guide was made, and what it is not. Nobody from NOMADREEF has dived Tioman. This is not a trip report and it contains no first-hand observation, because inventing one would be worth less to you than saying so. It is built from sources you can open yourself, listed at the foot, and from our own reading of the Green Fins member register on 2026-08-14, which is the part you will not find elsewhere. Where a fact could not be confirmed at its primary source, it is marked as unconfirmed rather than repeated.

A fee we can actually confirm

Most visitor fees in this directory end the same way: a number circulating on travel pages, an authority whose own site does not carry it, and a note from us saying we could not confirm it. Tioman is the exception, and it is worth showing what the difference looks like.

The Department of Fisheries Malaysia publishes the conservation charge on its own site. For non-MyKad holders: adult RM 30.00, children aged 6 to 12 and senior citizens aged 60 and above RM 15.00, disabled free. For MyKad holders: adult RM 5.00, children and seniors RM 2.00, disabled free. It also states an exemption for “all residents residing on islands surrounded by Marine Parks”, and names the legal basis: the Fees Act 1951, Fees (Marine Parks Malaysia) Order 2017.

That is what a checkable fact looks like: the body that levies the charge, the amount, the categories and the instrument, on one page you can open yourself. Rates change, so the date we read it is 2026-08-14 and it is worth a fresh look before you travel, but there is something here to look at.

All 4 carry an assessment marked in person within the last 12 months. On a list of four that is a small sample, and it is worth saying so; what it is not is a stale one. Every name and what each field rests on is on the Tioman operator list.

What the operators say about themselves

Here the picture thins out. We opened each operator's own site and 2 of the 4 responded; the rest did not answer, which is a fact about their websites rather than about their diving. Training agencies named on the pages we could read: PADI on 2.

Not one of the 4 publishes which languages their instructors teach in.

What we did not verify

Boat prices, jetty transfers from Mersing or Tanjung Gemok, seasonal monsoon closure of the ferry, and accommodation costs are hard facts under our rules and were not confirmed at a primary source for this location, so they are not here.
