Editorial Standards

NOMADREEF exists to give working nomads honest, useful answers about the water. These are the rules we hold ourselves to, so you can judge how much to trust any given guide.

First-hand where we have it, sourced where we don't

Where the author has genuinely been somewhere, used a product, or dealt with a service, we write in the first person and say so. Where we haven't, we say that too, and we build the guide from manufacturer specs, verified-buyer reviews, expert consensus and primary sources. We will never claim to have dived a site we haven't or tested a product we haven't. If a guide is research-based, it says so near the top.

How we handle facts and figures

Prices, specs, coverage limits, visa rules and similar details change constantly. We attribute them to a source, stamp them "as of" a date, and tell you to confirm the current figure before you rely on it. We do not invent statistics, quotes or test results. When we can't verify a claim, we either leave it out or clearly flag it as unverified.

Safety and "your money / your life" topics

Diving, insurance and money are areas where a wrong answer can hurt. On these we stick to accurate, sourced information, defer to official standards bodies and authorities, and add a clear disclaimer that our guides are general information, not personalised medical, legal, financial or dive advice. Always dive within your certification and follow a proper briefing.

Independence from advertisers

Affiliate relationships never change an editorial verdict. We rank on fit for the reader, not on commission, and we disclose every material connection. See our affiliate disclosure for the full picture.

Corrections and updates

We get things wrong sometimes, and prices and rules go stale. If you spot an error, please tell us via the contact page, we would rather fix it than defend it. When we make a substantive change to a published guide, we update its "last updated" date. We review time-sensitive guides on a regular cadence and refresh the figures.

AI assistance, human responsibility

We use software tools, including AI, to help research and draft. Every guide is checked against these standards and takes a named human author's responsibility before it publishes. The byline is a real person you can hold accountable.
