How to learn, do and stay safe in the water as a travelling nomad, across every sport we cover: scuba and freediving, surfing, snorkelling, kitesurfing and wing foiling, and stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking. Every guide here is safety-first and cites its sources; none is a substitute for in-person, certified instruction, which the powered and breath-hold sports in particular require.
Safety guidance is general information, not training or a substitute for a certified course.
